B.Tech Project (July 2005-May 2006)
Design and Stability analysis of Future Aircraft Engine’s Sealing Technology based on CFD, Structural Modeling,  under the guidance of Prof A. Dasgupta Mechanical Engineering Department IIT Kharagpur

Abstract: A mathematical model of brush seals using the large deflection beam bending formulation is done. The case studied in this project is a two dimensional bristle bending model of a brush seal. The mathematical model gives a direct dependency of the amount of bending as a function of the axial position on the bristles. The present model which includes an approximation can be used to find the final position of the tip of the bristles and hence the total force on the rotor. It can be also used to find the net forces in the orthogonal directions on the rotor due to its eccentricity. The current research  also gives an insight into the relationship among bristle-rotor contact forces, effect of rotor radius and eccentricity for the assessment of the bristle rotor combination.

B.Tech Mini Project (Jan 2005-May 2005)
Determination of Absorption Coefficient of materials by Impedance Tube Method, under   the   guidance   of   Prof. A.R.Mohanty,   Mechanical   Engineering   Department   IIT Kharagpur.

Abstract: The sound absorbing materials have numerous engineering application. They are used to control noise and vibration. In this project the transfer function method was successfully implemented to find the absorption coefficient for different materials those were tested. To make the process automated a graphics user interface was developed in Visual Basic for the analysis of the experimental data. The effect of frequency on absorption coefficient for different materials was also studied.

Project (Dec 2004-May 2005)
Design  and  Fabrication  of  Micro  Feeder  for  Laser  Cladding  Process  under  the guidance of Prof. P.K.Mishra and Dr. P.Saha Mechanical Engineering Department IIT Kharagpur

Abstract: In a laser cladding process the proper control on the flow of the material is very important along with precise feed. For this purpose a microfeeder was mathematically modeled, designed and fabricated. All the fabrication was done in-house, using an FDM 2000 machine, and the facilities available to IIT Kharagpur. Experiments to fabricate micro-tools are being performed.

Design and Fabrication of a Micro Wire Electro-Discharge Grinding Machine, and a Micro Lathe Attachment for a Wire EDG.  under  the guidance of Prof. P.K.Mishra and
Dr. P.Saha Mechanical Engineering Department IIT Kharagpur

Abstract:  Drilling of micro holes using a Micro Electro Discharge Machining is being looked into. For this purpose a micro lathe attachment which can hold the electrode to be used for the EDM machining has been manufactured. It was realized the efficiency
of the process is greatly improved if the electrode is also manufactured insitu, a Micro Wire Electro Discharge Grinding Machine has been fabricated which has been fabricated into a single unit with the Micro Lathe. All the fabrication was done in-house, using an FDM 2000 machine, and the facilities available to IIT Kharagpur. Experiments to fabricate micro-tools are being performed.
