An inquisitive kid, I used to walk around with a screw driver, ready to open up any toy or instrument I encountered. I started my experiments on my bicycle and the hand-pump but in course of time graduated to electric and electronic gadgets - receiving lots of shocks in the process and also ending up as the cause of the demise of some of the subjects I chose for my experiments.
However, I started developing a serious interest in the mechanical side of things only after I began visiting an automobile-repair shop which my uncle owned. I had seen these vehicles running on the road but there, on seeing them dissected to show their innards and workings, I fell in love with these wonderful machines.
Maybe it was this fascination with machines that made me like those problems on pulleys, strings and rolling cylinders I had to study for my JEE exam. I also realized that to love machines, I had to start talking in their language - mathematics. To cut a long story short, my passion for mechanics armed me with enough ammo and ambition to clear JEE, the toughest entrance exam in this country. And so, here I am in IIT Kharagpur, the oldest and the biggest of all IITs, pursuing the passion of my life - Mechanical Engineering.
